The starting pay for this position is $17/hr. + an additional $5/hr. for personal vehicle use/expenses after training is passed and the employee is working independently in the field.


In this role you will be responsible for both reading meters and updating and installing new metering technology for utilities. Reading meters ensures accurate and timely billing of utility customers. You will be assigned work orders and routes and will be responsible for accurately and safely completed all assigned work orders. Basic skills required are computer skills, small hand tools, map reading, and routing.


These are entry-level, daytime/full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends as needed. Travel with company vehicle may be required at times (up to 100-mile radius of your primary assigned work location).

Responsibilities


  • Properly monitor the care and use of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Complete all assigned work in a professional and accurate manner to avoid loss of equipment, ensure proper billing, and properly close out all work utilizing the correct completion or resolution codes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform meter reads with safety in mind
  • Promote a safe work environment by actively participating in all aspects of the employee safety program
  • Stay focused on the task at hand and promote productivity through good work habits
  • Complete change of service installation of electric modules
  • Identify and report meter tampering
  • Report any unsafe conditions and take actions to prevent personal injuries
  • Wear company issued uniform, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and identification at all times during working hours
  • Report any problems on a job site to an immediate supervisor
  • Support our interdependent safety culture by ensuring the safety of fellow co-workers


What We Need From You (Our Requirements)


  • Ability to use simple hand tools
  • Must be able to communicate in an effective manner in a one-on-one setting and while addressing a group
  • Work well within a group, as well as individually
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends (as needed)
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for work purposes Familiarity using current technology; smartphone, tablet
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions; outdoor experience preferred
