POSITION: Merchandise Planning Manager
REPORTS TO: VP of Merchandising and Planning
LOCATION: NY, CA, NJ, MA, PA (partial remote)
THE OPPORTUNITY: MERCHANDISE PLANNING MANAGER
The Merchandise Planning Manager reports into the VP of Merchandising and Planning and will be responsible for inventory planning and management strategies, reporting and merchandise analytics that achieve Birdy Grey’s sales growth and profit objectives. They will also partner with the merchant and cross-functionally for the coordination of the product assortment as well as the financial planning and inventory management of each product category. The ideal candidate has strong quantitative, organizational and analytical skills and the ability to foster relationships with cross-functional teams and peers to deliver results.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with E-commerce team in making site merchandising recommendations that align with inventory goals;
- Work with Analytics team to ensure appropriate weekly and/or monthly reports to support the business are created, maintained, and shared out
- Own in-season management of inventory including markdowns, promotional strategies, site merchandising and marketing strategies
- Build pre-season sales and inventory plans in partnership with VP and merchant to achieve company’s growth goals
- Own the replenishment model Identifying potential short-stocked positions or stockouts and make recommendations to correct in order to avoid any sales misses
- Manage sales and inventory forecasting of OTB for all categories, updated monthly
- Ensure data accuracy in the SKU attribution process and own SKU management and ensure data accuracy in SKU attribution.
- Partner with the Merchant in creating and managing merchandise assortment and inventory strategies that drive sales growth and maintain margin targets
- Work closely with product development and production team on categories purchased via vertical suppliers; Identify opportunities to shift any wholesale items in-house to maximize profit
- Own weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting and analysis to identify the drivers of key performance indicators and propose action items to drive future growth
- Own hindsights and analytical recaps of promotions and product launches with recommendations for next steps
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
EDUCATION: College degree required
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent Excel proficiency required
- Analytical mindset with a strong ability to compile, analyze, and report data
- A proactive and collaborative approach; you love working with people and people love working with you
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You are a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative.
- Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small
- At least 4-7 years in DTC e-commerce environment in retail planning or analytics, buying, and/or merchandising capacity, investment banking, consulting, or other analytical role.
- Experience with Looker or other similar data platforms preferred
- Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
- Strong experience with sales forecasting and inventory management preferred

- Fashion and bridal e-commerce experience a plus
