Job Description
The MEP Technician is responsible for the daily operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, plumbing and electrical building systems for the EControls and Ethium manufacturing buildings. The MEP technician will identify and implement best practices for a safe and efficient environment for customers and employees.


Utilizing an extensive background in MEP systems, the MEP Technician will also be responsible for the repair of motors, pumps, air compressors, fire alarm, sprinkler, plumbing and electrical systems. Additionally, the MEP Technician will perform troubleshooting and commissioning of MEP systems, small project management, and other functions as assigned. Additionally, it is the duty of the MEP Technician to identify points of failure and inefficiency throughout the campus, and to submit comprehensive reports/proposals detailing solutions to the Director of Facilities.


The ideal candidate will continue to improve upon their own knowledge base, contribute to the knowledge base of their peers, and promote a safe working environment while delivering a superior customer service experience.


Essential Job Duties:


  • The position is responsible for responding to 7/24-hour electrical and mechanical operational issues, which requires off-hour coverage via mobile phone.
  • Coordinate along with the other facility technicians, plumbing repairs on all bathroom fixtures and valves both manual and automatic including toilets, lavatories, and urinals.
  • Ensure all Preventive Maintenance procedures are documented, scheduled and performed according to OEM or AEM recommendations and meet local code requirements.
  • Ensure all aspects of the physical infrastructure are kept clean and orderly
  • Coordinate, with the Maintenance Mechanics, the maintenance and repair of door locksets, cylinders, hinges, panic assemblies, door closers and associated hardware.
  • Coordinate the service of all drain lines and operation of drain cleaning machines, augers and water jet drain cleaning equipment.
  • Responsible for the logging and tracking of problems in order to report, track and resolve complex issues.
  • Determine priority of action based on severity of service disruptions and respond appropriately.
  • Develops and ensures high level of service standards for the facility equipment as well as exceptional inter-departmental collaboration, communication, and support.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance of mechanical systems and components associated with pumps, motors and plumbing systems.
  • Provide high quality, consistent, efficient and accurate work for internal and external customer service supporting the company’s core values.
  • Installation of new equipment and removal of systems as required. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications as applicable to trade specific MEP infrastructure.
  • Operate and monitor fire life and safety systems, sprinklers systems, fire pump, smoke control system and all related valves and devices.
  • Coordinates all permitting, and inspections required by local authorities in the absence of Management.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair and assist in performance of preventative maintenance of electrical systems and components. These can include but are not limited to; low and medium voltage switch gear, automatic transfer switches, power distribution units, remote power panels, branch circuits, large or medium voltage diesel generator systems, large UPS systems, building fire alarm / life safety, fire suppression systems and critical infrastructure monitoring systems.
  • Perform routine physical inspections for alarm identification and operational issues


Skills, Education, and Experience:


  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify issues and help develop strategy and tactical plans for various department initiatives
  • Ability to work both independently and with others
  • Must possess a current Journeyman or Master Plumbing/Electrician’s license in good standing with the local authorities.
  • Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Associate degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Engineering / Mechanical Technology, Construction Management, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a journeyman level MEP Technician preferably in an industrial or complex central plant environment.
