Annual Salary $43,000

The Reimagine Youth Development (RYD) program will program out-of-school time and mentoring services to youth within the Calumet Cluster/South Cook County area that have demonstrated school disengagement, active street involvement, or referrals from the juvenile justice system.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct home visits and update parent/guardian contact
  • Ensures files remain up-to-date and in compliance
  • Helps to determine what methods each youth should use in order to avoid risk-taking factors, improve quality of life, and help reach their goals
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Utilize evidence-based curricula, youth enrichment activities, and other support systems to youth to ensure program success
  • Implement group sessions and one-on-one sessions during out-of-school time hours
  • Works with each youth to develop an Individualized Service Plan to address areas for improvement such as academics, social-emotional learning, counseling referrals, life skills, etc.
  • Perform outreach in order to meet program deliverables
  • Support youth to achieve positive school outcomes, social and emotional development, prevention of violence and/or victimization, and prevention of justice system involvement
  • Works to build partnerships within the community to cultivate relationships with local resources
  • Provides mentorship and advocacy services to youth with a consistent caseload of 40 youth
  • Works to assist youth to determine the factors that put them at risk of engaging in or becoming victims of aggressive behavior and other anxieties
  • Reaches out and re-engages youth that has inconsistent attendance, works with families to bring resources to the home, and connects with programs
  • Assists with recruiting and retaining 40 youth and completes all required intake and Casey Life Skills Assessment upon enrollment
Requirements:

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in social work, criminal justice, related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience working in neighborhoods in the South Cook area.
  • Experience working with teens and young adults preferred
  • Experience working with individuals dealing with factors that put them at risk of becoming victims of aggressive behavior.
  • Experience working one on one with youth involved in the juvenile justice system.
  • Evening and weekend availability is required.
