OVERVIEW This position is onsite in Escondido, CA It is a customer service-focused role -- quick to take the lead in providing crisis intervention and participant stabilization Med Techs work as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary treatment team including therapists, LVNs, and SUD counselors Med Techs provide supervision and oversight of participants and children assigned the detox or behavioral health units, and facility coverage, supervising participants during medication line, withdrawal management, and free time SOME RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE Maintain a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure Assist with assessment, intake, transition, and discharge of participants entering/exiting the withdrawal management unit Demonstrate strong crisis intervention and participant stabilization skills Complete detox rounds and behavioral support rounds at 30-minute intervals and documents each round accurately Monitor participant progress in withdrawal management and maintain strong communication with the medical team. Provide medical and behavioral crisis intervention and triage participants as needed within scope of practice Monitor the medication line and observe participant medication self-administration Document participant medication self-administration with accuracy Various administrative and documentation responsibilities to include answering phones and maintaining supplies drug testing REQUIREMENTS Registration or Certification as a Medical Assistant from an approved/accredited California agency OR 2 years of front office/back-office experience in a medical setting High school diploma or equivalent One year of experience in a residential substance abuse treatment setting or a withdrawal management/detox setting Experience working with clients experiencing acute withdrawal from substances, preferred Willingness to work with diverse populations specifically with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency Knowledge of issues related to substance abuse, mental health, and criminal background, a plus First Aid and CPR certified within 30 days of employment as part of onboarding In compliance with the California Department of Public Health's mandate, all employees must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination--medical and religious exemptions are available with twice weekly testing HEALTHRIGHT 360 OFFERS Robust benefits package, including PTO, 15 paid holidays, floating holidays, commuter benefits, retirement plans, and more! North County Serenity House provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
