Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems

Responsibilities

• Performing insurance verification and checking eligibility and benefits for medical and mental health treatments

• Reviewing patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and ensuring all necessary information is obtained

• Transmitting claims using billing software, both electronically and through paper claim processing

• Following up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe

• Ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract discounts in each insurance payment

• Collaborating with insurance companies to resolve payment discrepancies and billing secondary or tertiary insurance

• Researching and appealing denied claims to maximize revenue

• Addressing patient and insurance inquiries regarding assigned accounts with professionalism and care

• Verifying and maintaining up-to-date patient demographic and insurance information

• Accurately coding medical services and procedures using CPT and ICD codes

• Resolving billing issues, processing payments, adjustments, and refunds in a timely manner

• Engaging with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing-related inquiries and disputes

• Staying informed about insurance policies, guidelines, and reimbursement trends

• Assisting with financial reporting and analysis related to revenue cycle management
