Medical Assistant/Scribe Jobs

Job overview: The objective of this job is to

1) thoroughly and accurately document provider-patient appointments and,

2) perform direct patient-care tasks as a medical assistant, for a family practice provider. The job is full-time 36-40 hours per week.

Background information: Southwest Family Physicians is a primary care clinic with 17 medical providers composed of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, counselors, a physical therapist, an acupuncturist, and a licensed massage therapist. In the spirit of the clinic’s comprehensive approach to healthcare, clinic director Dr. Gulick began creating a medical home for patients and their families 30+ years ago. We take a holistic approach to health, an example of which is our medically guided weight loss program with a specific focus on lifestyle change.

Job Summary: As a medical scribe, one would be expected to see patients with the provider and to type up the information that is discussed during the visits, assist with ordering lab tests, medication refills, reschedule appointments, and other tasks that expedite and improve patient care. Our providers are fast-paced and enjoy teaching and collaborating with the staff.

In addition to scribing, you will be expected to perform medical assistant-type work including rooming patients, acquiring vital signs, giving injections, and small procedures, and calling patients to clarify issues/questions or relay lab results.

This job is a great fit for someone who is looking to expand their knowledge of medicine, with the potential goal of proceeding to medical school, physician assistant school, nursing school, etc.

• Initiative
• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related area or Medical Assistant experience/certification or Scribe experience or EMT with experience
• Previous experience with electronic health record systems
• Excellent communication
• Attention to detail
• Basic medical terminology

Required:

• Ability to learn quickly on the job
• Demonstrated ability to care for the well-being of all patients
• Excellent computer/typing skills
• Two-year commitment (minimum)
• Open to continuous feedback and constructive criticism
