The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a 90 - 100% Medical Assistant II (36 - 40 hours per week) to work at our Rivercrossing Family Medicine Clinic. University of Iowa Health Care's primary care clinic in Riverside provides a convenient location for family-oriented care. Appointments are available to people of all ages and include services for routine examinations, immunizations, follow-up care, and diagnosing routine medical problems, as well as pregnancy care. The on-site pharmacy provides you with a one-stop visit.

Our team develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient. When anyone in the family needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects you with the UI Health Care specialist you need. That specialist will consult the same medical record your family medicine provider has been keeping for you, so your specialty care is streamlined.

Our medical assistant's accompany the physicians or medical providers into the examination rooms in order to transcribe the clinician’s and care team’s encounter with the patients in real time. They accurately and thoroughly document the encounter with our patients as it is being performed by the providers, which may include documentation in the following sections: problem list, history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, assessment and plan, procedures and treatments performed by team, patient education, orders, medications, referrals, explanations of risks and benefits, and instructions for self-care and follow-up.

Duties To Include

• Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.
• Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
• Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
• Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
• Staff will support our Rivercrossing/Riverside Clinic.

Percent of Time: 90 - 100% (36 - 40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours between Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, no holiday and weekend time, no on-call time.

Location: Riverside, IA *(and surrounding clinics as needed)

Pay Grade: 9 https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/merit-plan

Salary: $38,792.00 - $57,616.00 / Hourly: $18.65 - $27.70 (based on years of experience)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualifications

• Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous experience in a team-orientated environment is preferred
• Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience is preferred
• Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR – Epic, Word, etc.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred
• Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.
