Matern Staffing is hiring a Mechanical Process Engineer in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Job Mission:
Provide the technical support, training, and analytical methods necessary to ensure manufacturing teams and supervisors have the necessary process technology, process capability, statistical process controls, facilities, and capacity available to them at an acceptable level of cost and quality to meet customer needs and company targets. This position is primarily in drill, rout, and multilayer lamination departments.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for optimizing processes for cost, time, quantity, and quality of product produced.
2. Provide manufacturing teams with the process capabilities necessary to achieve the levels of technology specified by the technology roadmap and document these capabilities for the annual planning process.
3. Provide the manufacturing teams with technical process training, Statistical Process Control (SPC) training, preventive maintenance training, trouble shooting, root cause problem identification, failure analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE) and closed loop corrective action procedures.
4. Provide project leadership to define and accurately plan capital requirements and expenses, per project or process, to meet the technology roadmap milestones.
5. Manage the technical and quality aspects of supplier and subcontractor selection, qualification, and on-going management. Team with vendors for process improvements and cost reductions.
6. Define, document, and maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) (i.e., processing procedures and routine preventive maintenance procedures).
8. Assist in the development of the annual equipment, capital, yield improvement and expense plans.
9. Provide the sales organization with technical resources as necessary to support customer corrective actions, problems, and inquiries.
10. Participate in NPI and the failure analysis processes to provide alternatives and technical solutions for customer specification and design problems, new or exotic processing problems or process capability problems.
11. Participate in the development and maintenance of an accurate design for manufacturability manual and guidelines in alignment with current manufacturing capabilities.
12. Participate in facility safety audits and ensure the safe design of all equipment.
13. Monitor manufacturing processes for adherence to all applicable standards and registration systems.
14. Possibly supervise other technical staff.
Qualifications:
1. Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes with a focus on CNC drillers, routers, and multilayer lamination.
2. Understanding of statistical measurements, including SPC, CPK, DOE, etc.
3. Ability to read, interpret and work from schematics and blueprints.
4. Oral and written communication skills equivalent to 4 years of college education.
5. 4 years technical college education or a minimum 5 years' experience in printed circuit manufacturing or related industry experience.
6. Mathematical skills equivalent to technical community college level.
7. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
8. Preferably, minimum 2 years' experience in printed circuit manufacturing or related industry experience.
Working Conditions:
1. May be exposed to chemicals, dust, and high noise levels.
2. May be required to wear a respirator.
3. May be required to work in a clean room environment.
4. May be required to remain on call during some portion of off shift hours, to work off shift hours and overtime.
