Gibbs & Cox, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, has an opening for an entry level mechanical or marine engineer to work in the Machinery Department. Gibbs and Cox is the largest independent naval architecture and marine engineering firm in the United States. We support military and commercial clients in the U.S. and internationally with all phases of marine design, construction, and lifecycle management. As a member of the Machinery Department engineering team, you will be directly involved in the mechanical engineering (propulsion, auxiliary systems, etc.) design effort on multiple ship platforms and projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct interface with design leads
• Able to manage schedule and technical product development for small, focused tasks
• Perform engineering and sizing of propulsions systems, auxiliary machinery piping systems, and arrangement drawing for early ship concept design phases
• Develop engineering tools to assist in future design efforts.
• Perform calculations applying mechanical engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria
• Performs and prepares quality assurance reviews of simple analyses, calculations, engineering reports, and drawings
• Interfaces with client at peer level
• Works independently, or on project teams

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering with 0-1 year of experience
• U.S. Citizenship and must be eligible to be granted a security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in using industry-standard mechanical system design and analysis software tools
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software
• Experience with marine/ship piping systems design and engineering

Pay Range

Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00
