Mechanical Engineer

JOB TYPE:

Full time, W2, 24 months, ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire

JOB SUMMARY FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:

  • The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings and read and interpret blueprints.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:

  • Work environment: Lafayette, IN Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering office environment. Also, very near to manufacturing for comparison of virtual to real iron. Supermodel Configuration Engineers have high-powered engineering workstations for management of very large Creo assemblies and can also be equipped with laptops for in-meeting demonstrations.
  • Approximately 20% of time will be spent educating users in the navigation and best practice regarding platform supermodels.
  • Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Approximately 40% of time spent receiving notification of new content and organizing, managing, and improving accessibility of content
  • Approximately 40% of time will be spent measuring quality of known content and communicating the need for correction to the engineering owners
  • Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.
  • Participation in multiple product development staff meetings is highly encouraged – for personal visibility as well as information gathering of new product development endeavors.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, but waived for equivalent experience (10+ years engine engineering)
  • Engine Product Development experience. Minimum 5 years.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:

  • JT models, plmxml assemblies, and Vis MockUp software
  • Advanced ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
  • Engine component function, spatial location, and system interaction
  • Creo large assembly management
  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Team player and detail oriented.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Teamcenter items and data
  • Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas.
  • Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
