Compensation Range: $72,400 - $90,700
Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.
Job Purpose
The Mechanical Engineer supports the ABSL design team in preparing mechanical design packages required to produce high-reliability lithium-ion batteries for the aerospace sector. Also supports engineering analysis and documentation as required for successful program execution. The candidate would work closely with Project Engineering to ensure work product accurately reflects program requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an associate engineer with 2+ years of experience to join a growing international space component supplier.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Sr. Project Engineer
- Works closely with the Lead Design Engineer to ensure completed CAD work adheres to Enersys-ABSL best practices.
- Works closely with Project Engineering to model battery piece parts and assemblies and create associated engineering drawing packages using SolidWorks.
- Creates BOM’s for new battery assemblies and associated test and manufacturing support equipment.
- Works closely with Project Engineering to prepare engineering documentation as required
- Provides engineering support on an as needed basis to all functional groups including Management, Manufacturing, Marketing, Purchasing, and Quality.
- Works with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure components are properly designed for successful manufacturing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Space or Aerospace industry specific experience preferred
- Knowledge of, or experience with lithium-ion batteries highly advantageous
- Above average Microsoft Word and Excel skills, VBA skills preferred
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to strict deadlines
- Experience using SolidWorks to prepare models and drawings. SolidWorks Simulation or similar FEA experience preferred
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an associate’s degree with applicable experience
