Mechanical Engineer I

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer I position will support the development of innovative, high quality, marketable products for assigned product lines in the Business Unit while working closely with the Product Development Manager, Operations, and Purchasing. This position is responsible for designing products to meet consumer requirements that are capable of efficient production and are cost effective. The position is expected to work collaboratively with Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Sales to meet customer needs and support the strategic goals of the brands and PRADCO.

Job Responsibilities

Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Develop new technologies and products that push the market segment forward and garner consumer interest while maintaining the quality of the brand.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, and Brand project teams and be mindful of release timelines for new products and development.
  • Enhance existing technologies and products to meet product performance expectations, marketing, and sales requirements, and deliver the financial goals of POB.


Specific Duties:

  • Support launch activities in manufacturing facilities and assembly plants.
  • Develop and execute test protocols based on real world product use to ensure function and durability of products.
  • Carry out other duties, responsibilities, and projects as may be assigned, in an effective manner.
  • Maintain appropriate engineering procedures throughout the product development process to achieve engineering deliverables which include cost, reliability, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Create and execute designs for existing product changes and all new product development.
  • Generate, update, and communicate product specification documents defining product design and manufacturing. Submit engineering changes to manufacturing in a timely manner.
  • Define factory specifications and key measures. Work with sourcing team and manufacturing to ensure quality and durability of products.
  • Work within the discipline of the new product development process to ensure only products that meet requirements and are approved are developed.


Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical) from an accredited college/university.

  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft tools for data analysis, project tracking and presentations.

  • Unquestionable personal integrity.
  • Known as collaborative, engaging and team oriented. Partners well within department and across organizations.


Preferred Skills

  • Ability to identify critical development issues via root-cause analysis and provide solutions in the form of long- and short-term countermeasures.
  • Familiar with POB products and a regular user of products in the outdoor market segment.
  • A background in the hunting or outdoor sporting goods market.
  • Competent in professional analysis and product development
  • Experience in Solidworks usage / management and design software (Creo/Autodesk)
