Overview


Designs mechanical/ electro-mechanical products and systems. Evaluates customer requirements, conducts trade studies, make/buy assessments and develops design criteria. Specifies system components or product modifications. Conducts engineering analysis and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies. Creates proof of concept and performs modeling/CAD analysis and prototype development. Develops vendor technical requirements and monitors vendor performance to plan. Develops two dimensional drawings and design specification documentation. Establishes test plan/procedures. Documents engineering design development outcome and analysis. Reviews engineering drawings for design conformity and prepares documents for release. Develops and delivers design review packages. Conducts verification/validation analysis to include feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems. Confirms test setup. Performs or monitors tests, documents outcomes and confirms design requirements. Troubleshoots and/or conducts root cause analysis of identified deficiencies. Retests and performs final acceptance actions. Assesses/analyzes operational events. Investigates equipment failures and diagnoses faulty operation. Evaluates potential baseline changes. Makes design and/or procedural changes or recommendations.



  • Develops initial system/subsystem component recommendations.
  • Identifies test plan/procedures and makes test recommendations.
  • Conducts verification/validation analysis.
  • Performs initial trade studies and gathers make buy data.
  • Develops two dimensional drawings and design specification documentation.
  • Prepares engineering change requests and gathers/develops release documentation.
  • Documents engineering design development outcome and analysis.
  • Investigates equipment failures, gathers operational data and performs diagnoses and makes recommendations.
  • Performs established test procedures and documents outcomes.
  • Creates component/subsystem level proof of concept and performs initial modeling/CAD analysis and prototype development.
  • Evaluates and makes potential changes and/or design modifications.
  • Designs mechanical/electro-mechanical components/subsystems within defined requirements.
  • Conducts troubleshooting and may perform root cause analysis and makes recommendations.
  • Conducts limited engineering analysis and identifies risks.
  • Performs limited retesting activities.


Typical Education/Experience


This job is limited to employees who, in the performance of their assigned work, regularly apply engineering disciplines to the research, design, development, test, and evaluation of company products, facilities, or manufacturing process and:


  • ASME GD&T Certification, a strong plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required
  • Two years ASME GD&T experience, preferred
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, required
  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Experience working with composite design, preferred
  • Typical experience: 2-4 years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or 0-2 years of experience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.

Please note that the salary information show below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications and work location.


Compensation Range: 72,000.00 - 99,000.00
