Our Zarpac team is excited to hire a new Mechanical Design Engineer. As our Mechanical Design Engineer, you will develop and prepare mechanical designs for product and pallet conveyors where the broad use of independent judgement and highly technical skills are required. Collaborating with other team members (designers, applications engineers, controls engineers, and project managers) the Mechanical Design Engineer will implement ProMach’s conveyor equipment and design standards in line with customers’ standards and expectations. The position reports to the Conveyor Products Manager.

Do you enjoy this work?

• Design machined and fabricated parts and prepare bills of materials with assembly drawings utilizing SolidWorks design software.
• Interface with manufacturing to ensure parts are properly fabricated, machined, and assembled. This will include updating revisions to mechanical design specifications/drawings.
• Interface with operations department to conduct conveyor mechanical testing and interface with other departments e.g. sales/marketing, parts, purchasing, etc., to coordinate work/projects and ensure customer on-time delivery.
• Act as a technical resource for customers and service department’s service technicians to address and resolve inquires and problems, especially during machine installation and start-up in customer plant(s).

• Able to define a problem, gather data to draw conclusions. and develop appropriate plans to address.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSME or BSMET), or similar engineering or technical degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent industry experience in mechanical design required.
• Effective change management, problem solving, and communication skills (both oral and written).
• Relevant experience working with a Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system desired.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplined project environment desired: engineering, quality control, procurement, manufacturing, cost estimating, delivery/billing, and configuration management.
• General knowledge of manufacturing processes, techniques, practices.
• Available to travel to customer sites on rare occasions.
• Experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks required.
• Over 7 years of mechanical design experience required for candidates possessing no formal degree.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 5% of time; international customers will require off-normal hour interface.
• 1+ years of mechanical design experience desired for candidates possessing a formal degree (which may include internships and/or co-ops).
