Job Description

UES is seeking a qualified scientist to support our efforts to develop novel materials for next-generation optoelectronic devices based on hybrid organic/inorganic semiconductor materials. Using a combination of solution phase chemistry, thin film deposition, and subsequent processing, we aim to discover and develop perovskite-based soft semiconductors for efficient emission and/or detection of circularly polarized light. The successful candidate will have a background in synthetic chemistry with demonstrated experience in thin film processing and characterization. Direct experience with lead-halide perovskite synthesis and processing, X-ray diffraction, UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and electrical transport measurements is highly desirable. The scientist or engineer will work in partnership with government scientists and engineers in the Agile Electronics Materials and Processes Research Team to develop and execute a research plan with the goal of maximizing the efficiency and spectral range of these devices. Publication of results in peer-reviewed literature is expected, and the successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of scientific achievement as evidenced by a record of such publications.

Requirements:

  • This position involves working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in material characterization
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • PhD in Materials Science or related
