Job Description

Company:

  • 200-250 employee equipment and machinery manufacturing company serving energy, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.


Compensation:

  • Annual bonus based off company and personal performance.
  • $75,000 - $110,000 base salary commensurate with level of education, industry, or relevant experience.


Summary:

  • The Materials Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of product within our North American HQ facility for manufacturing and supply chain operations. This position will have a great impact on internal/external customer service, supply chain, inventory, and capacity planning. The role will report to the Plant Manager with dotted line to the Supply Chain Director.


Duties:

  • Identify and resolve conflicts with respect to material/capacity availability and order-promising integrity. To this effect, participate in operational rhythms with Production and Materials Planners and Buyers.
  • Direct and/or assist with projects as needed, especially relating to annual physical inventory, inventory management or disposition, and standard materials flow or processes. Quote delivery dates for sales requests, considering manufacturing lead times and future capacity.
  • Own manufacturing load/capacity planning, assist with managing utilization of resources and overtime, and prioritize constraints as needed.
  • Maintain and report as needed on metrics including on-time delivery, backlog, and manufacturing hours.
  • Right-size inventory according to business needs by guiding strategic inventory procurement and usage.
  • Drive on-time delivery to both internal and external customers. Communicate when demand cannot be met and recommend alternative solutions.
  • Manage local team of Production Planners to ensure effective planning, clear prioritization and communication, and employee development.
  • Ensure clear priorities are established among the Planners and communicated to other local teams in order to best satisfy both short and long-term business needs.


Qualifications:

  • APICS – Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred.
  • A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • The successful candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to perform effectively in pressurized situations. Ability to effectively influence within a matrix organization and to communicate clearly and to target presentations, written and oral, to different audiences.
  • Advanced process and product knowledge. Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NetSuite/Oracle/SAP or other ERP systems, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and replenishment programs. Demonstrated knowledge of Planning functions/roles.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and experience within, or exposure to, a similar production environment.
