Summary/Objective


The Material Handler position performs all tasks involved in the part pulling process and is primarily responsible for assisting in the flow of production. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.


Essential Functions

  • Preparation, and maintenance, and of all fork trucks and tools
  • Rotation of position within team structure as necessary
  • Observance of all safety rules and policies maintained by the company.
  • Assist in reviewing pick sheets based on monitor supply levels and submit purchasing recommendations on a regular basis
  • Assistance in loading and preparing product for build.
  • Assistance in repair work as necessary
  • Must be able to operate appropriate equipment.
  • Collaborate with the inventory control and purchasing groups to determine when product is missing in a delivery
  • Maintenance of good housekeeping practices at all times
  • Must be able to physically and mentally maintain daily production goals and deadlines as established by management
  • Safe operation of fork truck/picker
  • Maintenance of raw material inventory (parts, supplies, etc.
  • Investigate departments when material issues arise, communicating those issues with team members
  • Movement of materials into and through production/shipping – feeding the line
  • Load and unload delivery trucks and make sure that each incoming delivery matches the company purchase order

This position has no supervisory responsibilities


Work Environment


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.


Physical Demands


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, crouching, crawling, and pulling all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.


Travel


Travel would be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.


Required Education And Experience


  • Must be able to physically and mentally maintain daily production goals and deadlines as established by management.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have prior forklift experience.


Preferred Education And Experience


  • Manufacturing/industry experience.
