Overview: Finding a meaningful way to serve others while developing valuable skills can be daunting and overwhelming. Meanwhile, low-income and under- resourced families and people many times lose hope and are one flat tire away from giving up. ARM works to partner these two groups together to make lasting change: extending love and building hope. We believe we can build more than just repairing homes, we can help rebuild lives.

ARM’s Vision: Transformed rural communities with sustainable homes, strong families, and strategic community partnerships for the glory of God. ARM’s Mission Statement: Discovering, developing, and deploying spiritual leaders that, as disciples of Jesus Christ, minister with under-resourced and rural communities to create sustainable homes, strengthen families, and build strategic community partnerships.

Programs: ARM coordinates affordable housing and home repair efforts in rural, low-income areas of Alabama, predominantly in Sumter, Macon, and Lee counties. ARM runs mission sites to host volunteers doing home repair. ARM helps families apply for home repair grants through partnerships with the USDA, HUD, and the Community Development Block Grant in the City of Auburn. With these programs, ARM provides more extensive repair and some of this work is contracted and some are completed using volunteers. ARM provides day camps and after-school ministry programs for children in the areas where we are providing repair. Finally, we develop community partnerships and have student groups on university campuses.

ARM began in 1998 as a missional summer camp organization in Livingston, Alabama at the University of West Alabama. Livingston is near central Mississippi. It launched an additional site in 2001 in the Central East Alabama area near Auburn and Tuskegee Universities. It now operates as a year-round home repair ministry with a summer children’s camp. It runs year-round in Tuskegee and in the summer in Livingston, Alabama. A significant part of ARM’s outreach is with college students.
