Marketing Manager


Location: Remote; Houston, TX or Philadelphia, PA preferred


Travel & Workplace: Occasional travel to regional clinics and events, and annual travel to Austin, TX for an in-person department retreat


Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000, depending on experience


Reports To: Senior Director of Marketing and Brand


Description:

Emancipet is looking for a pet-loving, creative and strategically-oriented individual to help share our mission and impact. As a network of non-profit vet clinics, founded in 1999, with clinics in Austin, Houston, Killeen and Philadelphia, we are on a mission to make vet care affordable and accessible for everyone. Emancipet seeks an experienced marketing and communications professional to implement marketing plans, lead the refresh of Emancipet’s website, manage the email marketing program and manage marketing communication projects for external facing audiences, ranging from donors to clients to staff. Responsibilities include oversight of Emancipet’s website, email marketing program, SEO, and project management related to the implementing integrated marketing plans and directing the development of branded messaging and materials.


A typical day might consist of updating key information on Emancipet’s website, assessing the effectiveness of our Google ads promoting web traffic to the Philadelphia clinics or drafting and sending out an email to donors about an urgent funding need. You will be our in-house expert on our digital marketing channels, and the go-to for day to day marketing needs. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and Brand to implement and manage marketing and communications plans and projects which will yield cohesive messaging helping to continue to elevate Emancipet’s growing brand awareness. You will be the newest addition to our marketing team made up of our Senior Director of Marketing and Brand, our Content Creator & Producer who focuses primarily on social content and growth, which includes photography and videography, and our Graphic Designer who leads our creative work.


Responsibilities:


  • Assists with writing, proofreading and editing for Emancipet content including digital materials, emails, letters, grants, funding requests and marketing materials to ensure a consistent brand voice, correct spelling and grammar.
  • Works independently and in cross-functional groups on a variety of strategic communications projects that require creative problem-solving and concept development.
  • Serve as brand steward by adhering to identity guidelines established by the Marketing team, providing brand training to colleagues as needed.
  • Project manager for marketing projects, including the 2023 Emancipet documentary, and marketing/graphic requests from all departments working in conjunction with graphic designer and SDMB; assists with ordering as needed.
  • Implements marketing plans under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing and Brand to ensure brand awareness, donor engagement, and clinic visitation meeting the budget goals and key results set by Emancipet.
  • Manages and implements Emancipet’s external email marketing program using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud tools (or other software to be determined) ensuring timely and consistent messaging to the appropriate audience. Works closely with SDMB and development staff on content, scheduling and ensuring goals are reached.
  • Maintains Emancipet’s website and project manages updates including the 2023 refresh project and continued routine upkeep of the website ensuring ease of use for clients and donors with a special focus on accessibility. Maintains Search Engine Optimization and Google Ads on a consistent basis driving web traffic to Emancipet. Assists with other online tools including merchandise sales portal.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently work on a laptop or computer
  • Occasionally work in a clinic that cares for cats and dogs
  • Occasionally attend events not held during normal business working hours/days
  • Occasionally travel


Required Certifications, Skills, Experience:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity working in Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Adwords
  • Ability to work within CMS (WordPress).
  • Expertise using email service providers (e.g. Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp etc.) and ability to segment audiences.
  • An understanding (or willingness to understand) that the inaccessibility of veterinary care has deep and tangled roots in other complex social problems like poverty, racism, and economic inequality.
  • Online project management platforms (e.g. Asana, Trello, Basecamp).
  • Highly organized professional with an attention to detail; manages competing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of HTML - experience is a plus.


Ideal Certifications, Skills, Experience:

  • A positive attitude and glass is half full approach to the world
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish specifically!)
  • Familiarity with how nonprofit marketing and fundraising works
