Job Description

Hardie Grant Publishing seeks an experienced, creative, and enthusiastic Marketing Manager to work with our Hardie Grant North America team on the vibrant, award-winning publishing and rapidly growing business in the United States. The ideal applicant will thrive in a fast-paced environment and will be results-focused and self-motivated.


Hardie Grant is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. This position will be based in our Berkeley, California office, reporting to Hardie Grant’s Marketing & Publicity Director, North America.


OBJECTIVE

Develop, manage, and implement marketing campaigns and activations through brand partnerships, digital marketing, influencers, and social media; work collaboratively to create innovative marketing programs with local and global teams, and support the development of the overall marketing strategy in partnership with the Marketing & Publicity Director


BEST IN CLASS Marketing Management

  • Author care: In partnership with marketing team members, deliver a high level of author care as well as assist with the development of key authors and progression where necessary
  • Track and provide analytics for social channel activity and digital marketing campaigns; report on social & digital highlights, sharing news with global internal teams and our distributor’s sales team
  • Participate in the ideation and creation of social media content for lead titles across the food and lifestyle categories
  • Oversee social media marketing across the list for titles and imprints in partnership with the Marketing & Publicity Director
  • Lead titles: To be responsible for the formulation and implementation of marketing plans and campaigns for allocated lead titles, and act as a point of contact for author queries about social promotion


TRANSFORM our business

  • Social Media: Work alongside the publicity team to generate ideas and initiatives to better and further engage with digital community
  • Partnerships & Pre-orders: Lead ideation, coordination, and execution of pre-order campaigns and brand partnerships, increasing the visibility of our brand and our authors


Set up for GROWTH

  • Expand social platforms: Work with the team lead to develop an overall influencer strategy while expanding into new verticals and channels (e.g., TikTok)
  • Influencer database: Update and grow our existing cookbook influencer program; launch influencer program(s) for other publishing areas to drive acquisition, engagement and to support brand goals


Make an IMPACT

  • Maintain a pulse on marketing and influencer-focused trends and share knowledge and expertise internally
  • Ensure the promotion of HG titles has a positive impact on critical social and public issues – such as sustainability, diversity, accessibility and inclusion
  • Consider sustainability across every aspect of the marketing process


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years' experience in marketing, preferably in publishing, with a track record of successfully implementing promotional campaigns
  • Interest in the subject areas that we publish in (food and drink, lifestyle, popular culture, etc.) is a plus
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Successful candidates will have the ability to both work independently and collaborate with the team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company and with outside agencies/partners
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
