Job Description

MHI is looking for a Marketing Data Analyst to support business and marketing operations by monitoring, cleansing, and analyzing all data within the organization. In this role, you will collaborate with a highly engaged team to build an ongoing data strategy that leverages analytics to uncover insights around intentions, attitudes, and motivations that drive member, exhibitor, and customer value, behavior, and engagement.


You will collaborate across departments to ensure that MHI is measuring effectiveness throughout the customer journey and provide technical leadership and be responsible for data and analytics reporting and digital marketing process optimization. You will focus on using our membership and marketing data for more effective digital campaign execution, aiming to deliver the right content to the right consumer at the right time.



Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Measure and report on standard digital marketing KPIs (CPC, CTRs, Bound Rates, etc.), inclusive of building standard data visualizations for reporting.
  • Identifies and manages opportunities for marketing automation around data personalization, movement, campaign execution, delivery, and reporting.
  • Ensures data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the data quality.
  • Assists in resolving data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies collaborating with IT and subject matter experts and data stewards.
  • Ensures quality of data in key systems, as well as development and documentation of processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity.
  • Assists in data management, governance, and data quality of data requirements with other functional data owners to ensure functional master data integrity across the operation is consistent and meets stated business rules and requirements.
  • Works closely with the business/IT to ensure alignment of data rules and the operations of the application meet all requirements.
  • Identifies areas for data quality improvements and helps to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
  • In collaboration with IT and other subject matter experts and data stewards, defines and implements data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.
  • Manages, analyzes, and resolves data initiative issues and manages revisions needed to best meet internal and customer requirements while adhering to published data standards.


  • Coordinate and prioritize analytics activities with IT and other teams to support the enhancement of marketing, membership, and sales operations.


  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Membership, Industry Groups, and IT to develop and maintain critical marketing metrics, custom reports, and dashboards to enable data-driven decisions throughout the organization.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Assists in the application and implementation procedures of data standards and guidelines on data ownership, coding structures, and data replication to ensure access to and integrity of data sets.
  • Defines, designs, and collaborates with IT to build databases to meet business needs.
  • Works with IT to develop and implement strategies to translate business requirements and models into feasible and acceptable data warehouse designs to ensure that business needs are met.
  • Conducts data hygiene and cleaning to rid the system of old, inaccurate, unused, or duplicate data for better marketing outcomes and quicker access. Enhances data for personalization and future account-based marketing implementation.
  • Provides data consulting in support of business and information technology initiatives to improve MHI database systems.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with information security practices and security software.
  • Experience working with industry standards, regulations, and guidelines in database warehousing and other relevant systems.
  • Experience working with domain structures and user authentication.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MS Office software and Smartsheet.
  • Expert-level knowledge in Salesforce, SQL, Google Analytics, SEO, Google Tag Manager, etc. Experience with marketing automation software is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis or computer programming.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Bachelor's degree in information science, data management, computer science, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with members, customers, team members, external vendors, and senior leadership.
