Marketing & Communications Manager
Youth Ambassadors is seeking a full-time Marketing & Communications Manager to drive strategic marketing efforts for the organization, with a focus on digital media to strengthen brand recognition and visibility. Our organization is uniquely positioned for growth, development and significant community impact under the growth of a dedicated Executive Director working in conjunction with a high performing leadership team.
Youth Ambassadors has served the families of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area since 2010 with workforce initiatives and social emotional learning and development. At present, it continues its mission by providing training opportunities in Health & Wellness, Youth Entrepreneurship, Community Development, Life & Job Skills, and Creative Expression for youth ages 14 to 18. Youth Ambassadors employs 5 director/manager level staff and approximately 15 part-time teaching staff. It also serves as a placement site for UMKC’s School of Social Work. The organization is committed to youth empowerment, social justice, equity, diversity, belonging, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing & Communications Manager will:
- Grow and strengthen the organization’s public presence through new and traditional forms of media,
- Work collaboratively with the program team to develop the organization's communications strategy impacting supporters, families, and the community at-large. Regular communications include but are not limited to bi-monthly e-newsletters, social media posts, and occasional press releases,
- Plan, develop, and implement overall organizational marketing strategy to heighten brand visibility and awareness in conjunction with the Executive Director,
- Design graphics for organization’s promotional materials,
- Assist with fundraising and development efforts as needed.
- Oversee updates to the organization’s website,
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Greater Kansas City Community
- One to five years of digital marketing, communications experience
- Proven ability to work cooperatively, diplomatically, and effectively with staff,volunteers, and in community relations and outreach capacities.
- Knowledge of the needs and strengths of youth age 14-18 and familiesliving in under-resourced and under-invested communities.
- Availability to capture program content (photos, videos, etc.) occasionally on Saturdays
- Working knowledge of gmail, calendar use/scheduling, wordprocessing software, spreadsheet/database software, WordPress, MailChimp, and Canva.
- Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.
- Working knowledge of strategies to build the organization’s social media presence,
- Occasional physical labor is required to set up for and carry-out programming activities.
- Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed leadership style.
- You are self-motivated and can work well both independently and in a small team environment.
- You thrive in an entrepreneurial and evolving environment.
- You are goal driven.
- You have a strong interest in and passion for empowering urban teenage youth.
- You have at least one to three years of experience in implementing, coordinating, and/or developing strategic marketing efforts in the nonprofit sector.
- You would thrive in an environment where you are expected to think outside the box.
- You prioritize working in an equitable and inclusive organizational culture.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, hybrid work (in-person/virtual), some weeknights and Saturdays may be required
Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000
Available Benefits: Company paid medical benefits; Paid federal holidays; A birthday holiday; 10 paid vacation days; 10 paid sick days; Hybrid in-person/virtual work environment.
