Job Description

Job Summary:

Support the Director Innovation and Strategy with elevating research and data insights that challenge and shape ongoing strategy formulation and refinement that continues to establish Microsoft as the world’s most customer centric organization.

Aggregate and analyze research (market, competitive, customer) and business metric data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategy development.

Partner with Research and Insight teams across Microsoft, external partners, and independent research to identify and prioritize insights.

Lead the creation and publishing of a periodic Strategy Research Paper that aggregates timely Market, Customer, Competitive, Partner, and Microsoft Insights targeted towards an executive and strategy lead audience. Communicate research findings and insights to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations

Continuously monitor industry trends and customer feedback to identify emerging opportunities and threats

Collaborate with and manage consulting partners as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 4 years' experience in Technology industry.

Minimum 6 years' experience in market research, data analysis, analytics, or similar disciplines

4 Year Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Business discipline.

Most recently in a Senior level analyst or analytics role responsible for generating and communicating insights that compel action

High degree of numeracy, highly developed quantitative and analytical skills.

Knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)

Experience in survey design and implementation, data analysis, and data visualization

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information

Understanding of industry business metrics, financial analytics, and proficiency with financial calculations

Knowledge (applied experience not mandatory) of Microsoft offerings and services portfolio, Microsoft technology, and cloud computing.

Experience in a complex multi-team and strategy fast paced business environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

6+ years' experience in the Technology industry.

Advanced degree in Data science, business management, or related disciplines


Top 3 hard skills:

1. Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize data from a range of data sources (market intelligence, competitive intelligence, quantitative analysis, etc.) (minimum 6 years)

2. Understanding of industry business metrics, financial analytics, and proficiency with financial calculation (minimum 2 years)

3. Proven data story telling skills and experience that compels action through clear, concise written mediums (e.g. narrative, presentation, etc.) (minimum 2 years)
