Job Description
What to Expect
We are seeking a Market Operations Analyst for Autobidder who will operate the largest fleet of battery storage projects in the world, ranging from utility-scale batteries to virtual power plants. Using Tesla's in-house automated trading platform, Autobidder, you will be responsible for bidding batteries into multiple wholesale energy markets, ensuring the assets meet contractual obligations, and complying with market rules.

As part of the Autobidder Operations team, you will execute trading strategies, monitor automated trading systems, and make real-time trade decisions during key market opportunities. You will also be responsible for creating procedures, data visualizations, and supporting analysis of asset performance and market conditions, communicating complex situations to broad audiences.

You will drive Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy, which requires high-performing batteries to bolster the grid and support a renewable future. You have a bias towards action, are an effective cross-functional communicator, and excel on collaborative fast-paced teams.
What You’ll Do
  • Ensure smooth Autobidder operations by actively monitoring Autobidder through structured on-call rotations.
  • Develop your expertise in electricity market fundamentals and operations into systematic trading strategies by working alongside developers of machine learning models, optimization models, and software services.
  • Collaborate, challenge, and learn from the broader Autobidder team.
  • Be an essential part of real-time battery trading participating in wholesale energy markets by continuously improving operational efficiency creating and maintaining procedures and tools.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams responsible for on-site operations to understand how they may affect market operations and propose plans to minimize the impact on revenue.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Economics.
  • A passion for extracting insight from data and comfort in communicating technical topics to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to quickly make analysis-based decisions in uncertain situations.
  • 1+ years of direct experience in electricity markets and/or energy storage
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and visualize data, and to build analytical tools programmatically (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, VBA)
  • Structured, detail-oriented, systematic thinker.


Preferred Experience
  • Experience in one of the following wholesale electricity markets: US (ERCOT, CAISO, ISO-NE), European (UK), or Australian (AEMO)
  • Experience in the stationary storage industry.
  • Experience on an electricity or gas trading desk.
  • Experience with both energy and ancillary service products.
  • Proficiency in: Python, SQL, Git, Docker
