Job Description
PacBio is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing/Research Technician to join our Baltimore team. This position will be based in Baltimore but is expected to work closely with our team in Menlo Park. Our sample preparation kits are commonly used for applications ranging from de novo assembly to structural variant analysis and epigenetics research. Our products generate class-leading genomics data and have been responsible for pushing the boundaries of both applications and data quality with customers hailing from academic and government research institutes to biotech companies in over 50 countries across the world.
The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to support both our on-going R&D, as well as our manufacturing efforts. Candidates will assist R&D projects, and work with scientists to plan and execute experiments and collect data. This will include basic laboratory tasks including cell culture, nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis. Candidates will also work with manufacturing and be responsible for performing manufacturing-related operations including buffer formulation, bottle filling, kitting, and shipping.

  • Is comfortable with basic laboratory techniques and is able to quickly learn new techniques.
  • Has an eagerness to learn and is willing to take on new responsibilities and tasks.
  • Effectively communicates orally and in writing and demonstrates the ability to follow instructions.
  • Take on roles to ensure product quality and that quality processes are used and monitored.
Desired Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with cell culture.
  • B.S. in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Engineering, or equivalent training/experience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with basic laboratory and molecular biology techniques.

Salary Range
$42,500.00 - $57,500.00
