Manufacturing Manager - Welding

Manufacturer of steel racking systems, warehouse systems, needs a Manager to oversee manufacturing in several plants, which employ hundreds of people. This is a remote position, requiring 50% travel to the plants and possibly overseas. You will direct activities so that products are manufactured and shipped on schedule, and within quality standards and cost considerations. This position requires that you live near a major airport.

· Develop manufacturing policies that help the company improve its competitive position and profitability.

· Formulate plans for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations.

· Communicate with department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.

· Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis.

· Develop and implement productivity improvements which reduce cost, scrap, and rework.

· Direct and coordinate programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).

· Initiate and coordinate major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in industrial, mechanical or business administration is preferred.
• Should be very knowledgeable about assembly and welding of steel structures.
• Seven years minimum experience in managing structural steel manufacturing. Experience with automated storage and retrieval systems, warehouse structures, etc. is ideal.
• Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems is expected.
