Sylvamo’s Ticonderoga, NY Mill is located on the shores of Lake Champlain. In operation since 1971, the mill produces high end printing and technical papers harvested from Adirondack and Vermont forests. We employ over 600 dedicated employees focused on safety, environment, quality and production.

Responsibilities may require engineers to:
  • Prepare or assist in preparing reports, graphs, planning layouts and summaries designed to communicate project progress or results
  • Utilize engineering skills to solve problems and create solutions to equipment downtime and operating costs as well as engineering for equipment modifications and new equipment installations;
  • Investigate and implement energy and cost saving projects;
  • Coordinate shutdown of equipment and operations; and similar work;
  • Perform basic engineering, calculations, investigations and tasks assigned;
  • Use various computer systems and tools to perform data analysis to make critical data-driven decisions;
  • Troubleshoot process and/or equipment issues, involving equipment for power generation, electrical power distribution, equipment drives, PLCs, and distributed controls;
  • Give presentations to mill management about project recommendations;
  • Develop training materials and train maintenance technicians on new skills;
  • Collaborate with more experienced engineers to provide follow-up and engineering assistance on defined problems;
  • Plan and execute process improvements;
  • Work closely with maintenance technicians, operators and other engineers;
  • Learn and utilize Lean/Six Sigma tools to improve process/reduce costs.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven individual who can also perform well in a team setting.
  • Permanent authorization to work in U.S.
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering field is required- preferably Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
