Technical Operations/Maintenance
Technical Operations includes the maintenance, and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.
Job Overview And Responsibilities
The Manager - Forecasting Analytics, is responsible for identifying insights derived from data analysis and developing analytical capabilities to support the Supply Chain Forecasting initiatives. The Manager leads a team with modeling and statistics background, and is responsible for spare part forecasting analytics needs, including expendable and routable components to support the Maintenance operations of United Airlines fleet. This position will collaborate with Digital Technology partners and Supply Chain groups, including inventory planning, vendor management, components/engines shops, warehousing and logistics functions. The role will work closely with Data Science team to identify trends from parts usage data, transaction data and operations data, and to support strategic forecasting initiatives.
  • Develop project plans and ensure timely project completions.
  • Support strategic supply chain forecasting initiatives with analysis accompanied by actionable recommendation.
  • Lead forecasting dashboard and insights initiatives
  • Support forecasting scope expansion initiatives in collaboration with the rest of the forecasting team
  • Manage and mentor team to develop in their roles and skillsets
Qualifications
Required
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Experience with statistical forecasting models and tools
  • Familiarity with database models (e.g., RDBMS, Hadoop) with high-level proficiency integrating complex transactional data in relational databases using SQL
  • Understanding of supply chain functions including sourcing/procurement, vendor management, inventory planning, warehousing, and logistics
  • At least four years of experience in an analytical, statistical modeling oriented role in supply chain, aviation, manufacturing or related industry
  • Experience with scripting programming languages (e.g., R, SAS, Python)
  • Bachelor's degree (BS degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, operations research or engineering)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, Palantir Foundry, MS-Power BI or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification.
Preferred
  • Experience with analytical model development and deployment in a related business area
  • Master's degree (MS degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, data science/machine learning, and/or MBA)
  • Programming experience in a scripting language such as Python, R
  • Experience with development of simulation models
  • At least two years of supply chain experience
  • Experience with developing simulation techniques (i.e., Monte Carlo, discrete event simulation)
  • Strong background in one or more supply chain functions
  • Familiarity with the airline industry
  • Familiarity with multi-echelon supply chain models
  • Experience developing and deploying models using programming languages such as R, Python
  • Experience in statistics, industrial engineering or related field involving solving complex business problems.
  • Familiarity with spare parts inventory planning methods
  • At least two years of airline experience
