As a result of our continued growth, Marmon is now seeking a Manager of Risk Management to implement risk management strategy related to insurance, claims and loss prevention and protect Company assets and operating income by analyzing data and other information to identify, measure, communicate, manage, and control known and unknown risks on a company-wide basis. This newly created position is responsible for implementation of data-related decision making related to insurance, claims and loss prevention through risk analysis, retained and transferred risk programs and loss mitigation techniques to initiate risk recognition and change in the company. This includes assisting with negotiating insurance placements and coverage terms and conditions, risk retention and transfer, contract reviews, claims management, occupational safety and property loss control activities including the development of internal risk management policies and procedures. The successful performer in this role will cultivate and manage relationships with third-party service providers including brokers, claims administrators, insurers and risk management consultants. This role regularly interfaces with Corporate office and business unit personnel at all levels to ensure the risk management program structure appropriately protects the business exposures. This person provides risk management expertise and guidance as part of the Legal department and as needed by Corporate and business unit management.

What you'll do :

Specialist Risk, Insurance and Legal Focus

  • Assist in leading the Corporate risk management effort associated with insurance, claims, contracts and loss prevention
  • Engage with business units and other corporate departments to keep abreast of changes in operations, products, etc., that could have a risk management impact (e.g., data-based claims and loss prevention trends)
  • Assist in monitoring company loss trends and claims and report to corporate and / or business unit management as appropriate
  • Work closely with the Legal Department related to insurance coverage, claim management, contract provisions and data associated with products, premises, property and occupational loss prevention; engage with Groups and / or business units to develop loss prevention and safety programs
  • Maintain awareness of emerging risks and market responses to insurance, claims, contracts, loss prevention and the transfer or retention of risk

Insurance Programs

  • Assist with identifying loss exposures and value collections and recommending the structure of risk retention and risk transfer programs
  • Assist with managing insurance carrier, broker and claims management relationships; recommend insurance program structures; implement and manage approved programs

Claims and Loss Control

  • Utilize data to assist businesses units in development of processes to reduce the frequency and severity of occupational injuries and property loss control
  • Assist with management of claim administrators including third-party administration, forensic accountants and other claim consultants
  • Assist with management of claims and losses at the request of the Legal department
  • Assist with loss and claim information collection and presentation to insurance companies

M&A Activities

  • Assist with merger and acquisition activity as it relates to insurance, claims, contracts and loss prevention
  • Assist with integration of companies into Marmon insurance and risk management programs

Other

  • Work with in-house counsel, outside counsel and outside consultants to review contracts for insurance language and other risk management items
  • Manage procedures for claim reporting procedures
  • Assist with supervision of third-party service providers including brokers, claims administrators, insurers and risk management consultants
  • Assist with establishment of contract standards with minimum insurance recommendations and other risk management concerns for outside vendor / service provider contracts
  • Travel both domestic and international when required (likely ~10%)
  • Provide insurance, claims, contract and loss prevention resources to business unit personnel
  • Work with Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing professional education, networking and participation in professional societies and organizations
  • Contribute to the Marmon team effort by participating in interdepartmental projects as needed
  • Maintain transparent communication by appropriately communicating information to the Risk Management, Legal, Corporate and overall business and Marmon team including vendors, service providers and consultants

What you'll bring to the role :

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance / Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field including law is required with preference for a legal degree/attorney or related legal and claim experience
  • ARM, CRM or CPCU designation preferred or ability to work toward the same in combination with another professional designation of degree like JD or MBA

Experience:

5+ years relevant industry experience with specific experience with insurance, claims, contracts and loss prevention

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization at both the Corporate office and business units
  • Results-oriented professional with superior organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering high quality results
  • Strong problem identification and resolution capabilities, along with sound and professional judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with emphasis in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships internally with business partners and externally with key administrators, brokers and other service providers
