Job Overview


The Quality Program Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures designed to achieve program goals and objectives; conducting studies and research projects to improve patient safety and quality outcomes; developing and implementing procedures for evaluating the achievement of quality standards; and providing consultative advice and guidance to staff and providers.

This individual will be Children’s Hospital Colorado Children’s Surgery Program Manager (CSPM) as outlined by the 2021 American College of Surgery (ACS) verification requirements. This includes work in collaboration with the ACS Pediatric Surgeon Champion, Medical Director of Children’s Surgery, Medical Director of Children’s Anesthesia and the Chief of Quality and Outcomes for the Children’s Center for Surgery. Duties will include and are not limited to: review of patient outcomes, implementation of quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with surgical team and ensuring appropriate documentation and oversight of ACS related activities.

Qualifications

  • Licensure(s): Specific license(s) may be required depending on the position.
  • Certification(s): Specific certification(s) may be required depending on the position.
  • Equivalency: In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, one year of professional experience will serve as an equivalency to one year of education.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating programs, to include responsibility for regulatory or quality management.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Nursing, Healthcare, Business, or a directly related field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and maintains program policies, procedures, and guidelines to achieve goals and objectives; provides advice and interpretative information pertaining to policies and procedures; and evaluates proposed changes to policies and procedures, making recommendations for change.
  • Conducts studies and research projects to improve patient safety and quality outcomes, prepares comprehensive reports that reflect findings and conclusions, and recommends feasible solutions in areas that require attention or change, implementing approved recommendations.
  • Acts as a technical expert and spokesperson for the program, providing consultative and technical guidance to staff and providers; interacting with internal and external interest groups to explain program position, mediate differences, and seek modifications; and handles sensitive or controversial issues, providing resolution to problems.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Meets with community groups, service providers, staff, and customers to solicit input regarding a program's direction, evaluate program's effectiveness, and assist in developing new programs.
  • Develops and implements procedures for evaluating the achievement of quality standards, ensures compliance with applicable regulations and departmental policies, and assists in establishing processes and controls to ensure compliance.
  • Prepares presentations and training materials for public education and awareness programs; delivers presentations at conferences, public meetings, and seminars.

Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Work assignment is generally unstructured and employee is responsible for organizing complex, varied, and simultaneous coordination of several functions, programs, or projects in various stages of completion.:

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $99,987.62 to $149,981.43
Hourly Salary Range: $48.07 to $72.11
