PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following essential functions:
- Develops new strategies to increase production using safe and cost-effective methods. Lead sponsor for executing on digital transformation and fully implementing beta tested machine learning tools.
- Supports the development and implementation of employee-training programs for skill development and regulatory compliance.
- Establishes key operational metrics (KPIs) that are used to maximize production, reduce costs, and prevent accidents.
- Leads supervisors responsible for production operations, engineering, workover operations, and surface infrastructure.
- Ensures production activities are operating at maximum efficiency and in compliance with internal policies and federal and state regulations.
- In partnership with the Digital teams, evaluate emerging digital technologies that can be applied to production processes such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Change leader who can foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, encouraging team members to explore and embrace new digital tools and methodologies.
- Ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment.
- Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Should be situationally flexible, influential, and assertive.
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related Engineering field with a minimum of 15 years of professional oil and gas industry experience, preferably within the Permian Basin.
- Innovative self-starter who is highly organized, results oriented and has a willingness to learn.
- A minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership skills and a proven background in supervising a diverse work force.
- Strong technical background in production operations required.
- Experience in, or aptitude for, data science and machine learning technology development.
- Ability to think strategically and challenge existing assumptions at all levels of the organization.
- Effective project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills and capacity to identify information and resources needed to complete tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; adept at interaction with variety of contacts, including peers within a multi-disciplinary team, management, vendors, & industry partners.
- Copes with ambiguity and change effectively, while comfortably managing overall risk and uncertainty.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is commensurate with experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is primarily an office position where work is normally performed in a climate-controlled environment. Travel to other office and field locations may periodically be required. When field travel occurs the incumbent may be exposed to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require some pushing, pulling, or carrying of 25-to-45-pound objects such as tools, equipment for work operations. Work involves sitting in an office environment most of the time but may require some standing and walking at field sites.
- Builds and maintain relationships with key personnel and functional leaders within Vital.
- Effectively maintains internal and external communications with a broad variety of engineering disciplines and management.
- Promotes safety and environmental excellence by ensuring that all EH&S programs are understood and enforced. Takes corrective actions to rectify variances from Vital’s programs and policies.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Assists in the development of production, capital, and lease operating expense budgets. Manages production operations to deliver operational outcomes in-line with budget.
- Accountable for the commissioning and startup of new facility projects. Recommends process modifications to ensure compliance with standards, specifications and contract terms and conditions.
