Manager Of Adult Learning - Regular, Full-Time (Hybrid)

Position Summary

The Manager of Adult Learning will work with the Learning team to provide innovative, strategic leadership to align and invigorate the CAC's adult learning programs. This position supervises the development, implementation and performance of learning opportunities, engagement events, and public programs primarily for adult audiences. Informed by advanced approaches in the field of museum pedagogy, the Manager will produce enriching educational experiences/programs and engagement opportunities for adults both at CAC and in the community. In addition, the Manager will oversee day-to-day team operations. including budget and personnel, and will work collaboratively with other departments to build a generous welcome at CAC through programming that addresses myriad audiences and learning styles. Success in this role ensures the Learning team serves diverse multigenerational audiences.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Develop and realize an annual adult programs calendar with clear metrics of success, speaker recommendations and thorough project roadmap.
• Conduct weekly 1-1 meetings with direct reports, support individual goals and outline clear objectives.
• Participate in working groups on large-scale projects, meeting deadlines, providing briefs and recommendations.
• Collaborate with our Creative Strategy Team to promote adult learning programs through various channels, including digital platforms, social media and community outreach and community engagement.
• Represent the CAC in key civic and cultural arenas, cultivating relationships with artists, partners, and donors.
• Forge collaborative cross-departmental relationships to develop innovative strategies for audience engagement, and deliver programmatic offerings that are strategic, mission-driven, and promote CAC's values of respect, continuous learning, integrity, and collaboration.
• Design and develop a comprehensive learning strategy such as educational programs, workshops, lectures, and special event
• Lead large-scale organizational initiatives such as Open House Chicago.
• With the Education Program Manager, develop a best-practice strategic approach that connects youth and adult programs with neighborhoods and communities that CAC serves.
• Ensure that the CAC's adult programs expand upon and enrich both exhibition-related and non-exhibition-related content with depth, sensitivity, and an emphasis on relevance, relatability, and visitor engagement that reflect our commitment to respect for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Conduct ongoing evaluation and assessment of adult learning programs, collecting feedback and data to measure impact and make improvements in line with our commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
• Recruit, develop, motivate and inspire direct reports and volunteers on a day-to-day basis, including oversight of special projects and time management to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all assigned activities. Coach and mentor staff with a wide range range of experience and career levels.
• Identify and cultivate industry, civic and community partnerships to elevate adult program opportunities.
