Job Description

Eaton’s EPG CPD PCD Power Components Division is currently seeking a Manager, Test Lab.

This role is located at our lab in Belmont, NC, relocation will be provided to candidates currently residing in the U.S.


The expected annual salary range for this role is $101250.0 - $148500.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

Our Lab Manager will manage the electrical test laboratory as a world class testing facility. This individual will drive overall lab operations encompassing testing infrastructure, maintenance and continuous improvement opportunities. In addition, this role will maintain the facility & substation, identify lab equipment upgrades or repairs, organize and archive test reports, manage lab work load, track test request status, and improving / sustaining 5S activities as well as ensure the safety of the lab personal, customers and lab equipment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the facility. Coordinate / schedule all maintenance and calibration for all lab equipment or instrumentation used for testing. Provide necessary training for the lab employees that safeguard lab personnel, company property, equipment and site security.
  • Ensure that test reports are completed accurately and delivered in a timely fashion to customers and certification agencies
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise for test functions and activities for the laboratory
  • Drive continuous improvement by improving efficiency capabilities while maintaining the quality of testing to meet or exceed internal / external customer satisfaction.
  • Manage lab budgets, billings, expense / capital spending, payments of invoices, supplier setups, and shipping & receiving functions to ensure site meets or exceeds profit plan.
  • Maintain 3rd party certification and schedules. Uphold positive relationships with internal and external customers and witnessing agencies, UL, CSA, DEKRA, etc.

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years experience managing or supervising people and/or leading teams
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • Five (5) years experience in electrical distribution, control product or high power electrical testing and site operation
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience managing and motivating technical staff, driving for results and team building
  • Solid working knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NEMA and UL standards that relate to low voltage products
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • High voltage substation experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, electrical power systems and power distribution equipment. Technical knowledge in electrical component and assemblies

  • Fundamental knowledge of environmental, health and safety requirements
  • Must have strong communication skills and excellent customer service understanding
  • Ability to schedule and delegate work to prioritize lab resources for testing and lab maintenance.
  • Capable of collaborating with engineering and project team members, production facilities, and outside agencies / customers
