How will you make an impact?

You will implement and maintain business strategy for Environmental, Health and Safety programs and partner with operations and support functions to implement LEAN safety into the operations and drive evolution of culture from compliance to world-class performance. You will also determine the strategy and implementation of recycling programs, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, safety and chemical regulatory requirements, radiation requirements and licensing, injury reductions and industry standard processes.

What will you do?

  • Perform safety audits/inspections, accident investigations and reporting, regulatory compliance and management of, and consolidating of, hazardous wastes and waste removal contractors. Determine root cause and recommend appropriate corrective action(s).
  • Apply ergonomic principles to improve workstation and minimize soft tissue injuries.
  • Become the Radiation Safety Officer for the site.
  • Conduct/Coordinate training in emergency response situations, hazardous materials handling/storage/disposal, radiation, industrial hygiene, life safety, and ergonomic compliance-related activities etc.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Develop, lead, and direct specific regulated safety/EHS programs such as Radiation, Laser, etc to follow all regulations and become POC for state, federal or independent audit.
  • Participate in regulatory/OSHA audits providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
  • Develop, implement and manage an all encompassing and comprehensive site wide employee safety training and communication program.
  • Manage third party vendors and contractors.
  • Identify hazardous work place conditions and coordinate the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards.
  • Train employees on safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations. Assign training modules based on job requirements.

How will you get here?

Education

Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental or other related technical or scientific field

Experience

  • 5+ years experience leading EHS programs
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, program and project management, and decision making/judgement skills
  • RSO and LSO designations preferred
  • Led laboratory compliance and training, hazardous waste reporting, laser safety compliance, radiation safety, and plan/perform emergency contingency activities
  • Prior experience in creating, modifying, and implementing operating procedures, work instructions, and corrective and preventative actions as needed to manage compliance

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, highly organized
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a work environment that has potential to change frequently due to change in government regulations or business needs
