POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated Malaria Research Biologist to contribute to crucial health research projects, particularly in the area of malaria research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of procedures and techniques, maintain laboratory operations, and contribute to scientific presentations and publications.

TASKS. The contractor shall:

• Perform B cell screening and sequencing to identify new monoclonal antibodies targeting P. falciparum.
• Maintain detailed records of experiments and their results, preparing information for presentations and publication.
• Provide upkeep and routine maintenance for projects, including managing laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Assist other staff with a range of procedures and techniques such as cell culture, DNA analysis and sequencing, flow cytometry, gene cloning, peptide synthesis, protein analysis, and others as required by the Unit.
• Write and maintain reports of findings, discussing the results and future planning with the Investigator.
• Perform a variety of procedures and techniques including Plasmodium sporozoite dissection, in vitro functional assays, molecular cloning, PCR, cell culture, recombinant protein production, and flow cytometry.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

• Experience with insect cell expression of Plasmodium proteins is strongly desired.
• Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on laboratory experience.
• Strong ability to operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment.
• Master’s degree in a related field with a major molecular biology or immunology component.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in the lab on completing experiments and research.
• Experience with malaria research.
