We are seeking a Biologist to support the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, MD. Our NIAID professional, technical, and scientific support personnel are part of a team focused on positively impacting millions of lives around the world. • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Biology, Immunology, or related field.

• Minimum three (3) years or more of demonstrated relevant experience in flow cytometry field.

• Proficiency with basic laboratory techniques (sample preparation, cell culture) and flow cytometry methods such as immunophenotyping, cell cycle analysis, etc.

• Experience in high parameter flow cytometry, spectral flow cytometry, imaging flow cytometry, mass cytometry or cell sorting will be an advantage, but training can be provided where required.

• Good understanding of laboratory biosafety standards.

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including knowledge of computer systems and ability to work independently with data analysis programs.

• Ability to multi-task in a busy facility and to approach tasks and obstacles with a team-first mentality.

• Development of new methods that extend the scope of flow cytometry at the facility will require excellent laboratory skills and a high level of desire to learn new skills.

• Previous experience isolating cells from various tissue types is a plus.

• Demonstrated significant depth and breadth of subject level expertise, including familiarity with dimensionality reduction and other advanced cytometry analysis approaches is preferred.

• Demonstrated awareness of latest developments in the project specialty areas.

• Knowledge of Flowjo, Prism, CytoBank, and R, are a plus.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with co-workers, expertise ranging from novice to experts.

• Ability to advise and work at a high level with a variety of collaborators from diverse laboratories.

• Good record keeping and organizational skills.

• Ability to effectively communicate scientific findings through scientific presentations and talks.

• Must operate effectively as a team member of the lab and able to work independently.
