Pay Range: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour

  • Must be insurable through CPN insurance.
  • NOTE: THIS JOB DESCRIPTION IS DESIGNED TO APPLY TO BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL MAINTENANCE AND LANDSCAPING POSITIONS FOR CROSS TRAINING AND BACK FILL PURPOSES.


ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS:

  • In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.

FUNCTIONS STATEMENT:

  • Perform laboring work in the maintenance of Grand Casino Hotel & Resort and grounds in a clean and orderly condition and care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Maintain and repair plumbing system
  • Mow lawns, trims hedges, rake and remove leaves and refuse from the grounds
  • Repair utility system, such as electrical wiring and controls, heating and ventilating
  • Practice all industrial/vocational skilled trades and crafts in addition to related prescribed standards and specifications for each.
  • Keep grounds and buildings maintained by repairing any breakdowns in the physical structure of the building
  • Maintain irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring.
  • Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
  • May install, service and repair mechanical equipment
  • Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
  • Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage.
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
  • Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
  • Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edger's.
  • Decorate gardens with stones and plants.
  • Gather and remove litter. Haul or spread topsoil, and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.

Requirements:

FACTOR 1: KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THIS POSITION

  • Knowledge of lawn and landscaping techniques, seasonal plants, fertilizers, seeds, bulbs, irrigation systems.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of all industrial/vocational skilled trades and crafts in addition to related prescribed standards and specifications for each.

FACTOR 2: SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

  • Incumbent may also independently plan and carry out the projects and select the approaches and methods to be used in solving certain problems.
  • Supervisor assigns work on information regarding the objectives, priorities and deadlines.
  • Incumbent handles all work independently according to established policies and accepted practices in the landscaping, trades and crafts industries.
  • Completed projects are reviewed to determine that objectives have been met and are in compliance with higher authority, policies and regulations.
  • Incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager.

FACTOR 3: GUIDELINES

  • Guidelines include Citizen Potawatomi Nation regulations and directives, manufacturer's catalogs, handbooks, precedents, and files of previous projects.
  • The incumbent implements adaptations in dealing with problems and unusual situations always with the best interests of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and Fire Lake Casino in mind.
  • Incumbent applies prescribed landscaping, industrial trades and crafts standards and specifications as amended, employer standard operating procedures, in addition to handbook, policies and precedents.

FACTOR 4: COMPLEXITY

  • The level of complexity will vary from mild to extremely intensive and complex circumstances on a routine basis.
  • The incumbent is often required to depart from past approaches and to extend traditional techniques or develop new ones to meet major objectives and projects without compromising the integrity of the finished work product.
  • As the level of difficulty increases, the incumbent considers differences in the courses of action and refines methods or develops new techniques, concepts, theories, or programs, to solve problems.

FACTOR 5: SCOPE AND EFFECT

  • This work affects the quality of the landscaping, mechanical and automated systems within and throughout the property.
  • The purpose of the work is to provide technical expertise in the design, maintenance and safety of the physical plant, surroundings, grounds and equipment related to Firelake Grand Casino.

FACTOR 6: PERSONAL CONTACTS

  • The range of contacts include ordinary citizens who come to enjoy the amenities offered by the property, to international dignitaries in addition to those dignitaries who represent the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, National Indian Gaming Commission, Federal and State Government and other Native American Tribes.

FACTOR 7: PURPOSE OF CONTACTS

  • The purpose of the contacts is to provide and exchange information and data. The contacts may include dealing with people who are angry, skeptical, uncooperative, unreceptive, or hostile.

FACTOR 8: PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The position requires daily climbing, lifting, stooping and reaching with agility and dexterity required.

FACTOR 9: WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The physical surroundings includes an inside climate controlled setting to extreme outside weather consisting of hot and dry to cold and wet conditions.
