Description:

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and supporting the three CHEM Group Manufacturing Sites, this position provides hands-on maintenance and new installation support primarily in instrument, electrical and process controls. Additional duties include assistance to site maintenance staff in all maintenance disciplines including pumps, compressors, as well as shop support such as specifying and ordering parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain tools, equipment and work environment to a professional standard.
  • Willing to travel for short periods of time (est. 1 week) to support maintenance and capital projects at company sites in: Evansville, IN; Troy, IN; Hot Springs, AR and Houston, TX.
  • Checking finished work to make sure it meets tolerances
  • Measuring and cutting materials to specification
  • Install and maintain pipe systems and supports, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Order required materials such as pipe, hangers, brackets, welding supplies, etc. using in-house purchase order system.
  • Determine correct welding equipment to use and proper setup. Typical welding equipment includes: Stick, MIG, TIG as well as cutting equipment such as Plasma.
  • Clearing pipe systems of obstructions and testing their functionality.
  • Comply with relevant codes and regulatory standards
  • Understand metallurgy to correctly join pipe and angle iron per specification
  • Report out and present as requested tracking and status of these duties and responsibilities.
Requirements:

Skills and Education Requirements:

  • Measuring and cutting materials to specification
  • Classroom training/apprenticeship and certification in welding
  • Good written and verbal communication in English
  • Skilled and certified in welding pipe and vessels designed for pressure
  • Trained in Forklift, Scissor lift,
  • Heavy Industrial Chemical Plant Experience (minimum of 5 years)
  • Familiar with stainless and mild steel.
  • Physical dexterity for an indoor/outdoor heavy industrial environment
  • Willing to train and learn new skills and certifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • High School Diploma/GED
