Job Description
Job Purpose: The Maintenance Technician I will ensure that the manufacturing equipment and facility are always ready to generate revenue by performing repair and maintenance work on the facility and on mechanical and electrical equipment. This is a full-time hourly position, training on first shift with possibility of selecting an off-shift at a later date, and some on-call shifts expected.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Works independently or as an assistant to more experienced maintenance staff to plan and perform repair work on buildings, mechanical and electrical equipment, including installing and aligning new equipment and repairing building, floors, stairs, etc.
  • Maintain documentation of machine repairs and maintenance and provide feedback to improve the operating systems and efficiency of the maintenance team.
  • Willingness to perform minor janitorial duties as required.
  • Repair and maintain production equipment to ensure maximum uptime and product quality through preventive and reactive maintenance.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance procedures in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor and operations team.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinate work with all team members to ensure best practices, attend appropriate team meetings, and foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
  • Verify dimensions of parts and machine components using measuring instruments to validate repairs are completed correctly.


Requirements


Education and Experience:


  • 2 to 7 years of experience repairing electro-mechanical machines and facility maintenance
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent


Competencies:


  • Able to read shop drawings, manuals, and schematics
  • Knowledge of operating systems principles and objectives
  • Ability to perform basic machine repairs without supervision and assist on complex machine repairs with more experienced technicians
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
  • Understanding of lean principles such as 5S
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and root cause analysis skills


Physical Requirements:


  • Make repetitive or semi-repetitive machine or equipment adjustments requiring some feel or dexterity
  • Bending, twisting, climbing, reaching, etc.
  • Walking on a level surface for periods throughout the day
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and reach
  • Required to stand for long periods of time
  • Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s)
  • Reaching above shoulder heights and/or below the waist
  • Able to lift machine components up to 50 lbs.
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Perform non-repetitive assembly, construction, and maintenance type activities
