Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance Technician


Department: Production


Reports To: Maintenance Manager


Summary


Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager& VP of Operations, the Maintenance Technician is


responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production


and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes


to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

Maintenance duties:


 Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant


facility’s equipment.


 Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and


performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.


 Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.


 Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic,


hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.


 Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and


service.


 Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.


 Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.


 Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.


 Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in


performing duties.


 Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to


proper supervision.


 Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Qualifications

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or


training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and


procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively


before groups of customers or employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common


fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY


Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written,


oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized


situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


None required. Black Seal Boiler Operator license a plus.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, see, talk and


hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is regularly


required to reach with hands and arms as well as climb stairs and ladders. The employee must frequently


push, pull or lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally push pull or lift and/or move up to 70 pounds,


including up to 50 pounds overhead. The Maintenance Technician may be required to crawl into or under


machinery and lay on back or stomach while on equipment. Vision requirements include: close vision,


distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical and


electrical parts, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and extreme cold and heat. The noise level in the


work environment is usually moderate.


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK


This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are as assigned by management; shift work may be


required. Overtime, evenings, Saturday, and Sunday work may be required as job duties demand.
