Maintenance Technician - 3Rd Shift

Maintenance Technician is responsible for mold/extrusion changes, set-up & process troubleshooting on molding machines, extruders, auxiliary, and processing equipment. Provides hands-on technical ability. Strong trouble shooting skills required. Minimize equipment downtime. Identify defects and make adjustments.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Material handling and quality checks.
• Evaluates materials and processes including standard work to actual to molding performance.
• Ensures production times are met.
• Follow all Flexan procedures for traceability, line clearance, process control, safety, and housekeeping.
• Cooperation and professional conduct with coworkers, staff, and managers.
• Communicate best practice to other team members and shifts.
• Follow all procedures for cleanroom operation, cleanroom attire, and contamination control.
• Check and complete all paperwork associated with the setup and adjustments of tooling, machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process.
• Use strong problem-solving skills to trouble shoot machines and auxiliary equipment. Determines the root cause of machine alarms. Makes all necessary adjustments and tool or machine repair recommendations.
• Maintain the highest level of workmanship standards and product quality. Provides recommendations to improve quality and performance of production machines.
• Trains personnel on procedures for IQMS (ERP) for production reporting, review, and posting
• Maintain a safe working environment. Maintain a good housekeeping
• Sets up, mold/extrusion changes and processing. Assists in start-up of jobs to meet the daily schedule. Controls operations on injection molding machines, extruders, assemblies, and auxiliary equipment.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.
• Meet Flexan standards for quality and productivity.

• Customer focus
• Must be able to support the entire maintenance team in all areas such as facility related repairs painting and drywall etc.
• Initiating a root cause investigation to address any major maintenance related equipment failures and report findings to maintenance Manager and or Lead.
• Prior experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix Processors and RS Logix 5000. Understanding of control system design and network communication interfaces.
• Promote teamwork and ensure that all maintenance work orders generated are opened and closed in a timely manner.
• Must be able to understand Safety first as a company culture and have the ability to learn and participate in all 5s projects throughout the facility.

• Must be able to read use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.

• Suggest and implement any maintenance equipment related improvements to increase productivity and reduce overall cost and equipment failure.

• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
• Must be able to work with Engineering and assist with installation and startup of new equipment.
• Must be willing to learn and obtain knowledge of production equipment and perform tool setup, start-up, shut-downs maintenance repairs and PM’s on all injection equipment.
• Must have solid knowledge of compressors, chillers and water softener systems.

Education And Experience

• Technical degree is preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for a candidate who can demonstrate the combination of experience, training and education to be capable of successfully fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of the position.
