Job Description
Title: Maintenance Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Serves as first line supervisor for managing the day-to-day maintenance functions for the College.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises maintenance technicians. Assigns routine and preventive maintenance work orders and delegates work assignments across all campuses. Provides monthly reporting on work orders and other metrics. Assists with purchasing maintenance equipment and services across all campuses. Coordinates purchase orders for maintenance technicians on extended campuses.
Assists Facilities Manager with procuring and managing service contracts for janitorial, landscaping and other services. Regularly meets with service contractors to ensure the smooth delivery of services. Informs Facilities Manager of any concerns with service contracts, contracted staff or contractors. Coordinates maintenance and facilities projects with maintenance technicians across all campuses.
Assists the Facilities Manager with maintenance projects reviews. Supports departments goals and objectives in coordination with the Manager of Facilities. Assists Facilities Manager with regular and ongoing safety training for the department, including OSHA, MDS, bloodborne pathogens, forklift safety, etc. Coordinates maintenance support for special events, including set-up/break-down.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
5 years’ maintenance/repair experience
3 years’ supervisory experience
A valid driver’s license
Must pass a background investigation, including a favorable motor vehicle record and criminal background report
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience managing maintenance operations for multiple locations/campuses
Experience overseeing facilities maintenance in a higher education setting
Experience in dispatching crews to multiple work locations
Trade certification in electrical, plumbing, HVAC or similar trade
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of basic construction, plumbing, electrical and preventive maintenance principles. Working knowledge of building systems, facility operational requirements and utility systems. Basic computer skills, including experience using work order and preventative maintenance systems. Ability to plan and estimate building and maintenance costs. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed to support campus events and/or respond to maintenance and weather emergencies. Ability to safely use various tools and equipment, such as hammers, drills, saws, wrenches, snow shovels, compressors, golf carts, forklifts, motor vehicles, etc. Ability to frequently walk, stand, stoop, crawl, climb, bend, kneel, work on elevated surfaces, work in small/confined spaces, work overhead and be in awkward positions for extended period of time. Ability to regularly push, pull, lift, move and carry 30 to 50 pounds.
