RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities and accountabilities of the job:
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all applicable regulations and company policies (e.g., Quality, Safety, Environmental).
Maintenance Work
  • May require welder work for tank repairs, internal and external.
  • Pipefitting skills such as layout, fabrication, pipe threading, plumbing, etc.
  • Install piping systems including Teflon lined, black iron, stainless steel, etc.
  • Providing an instructional role model for less experienced craftsmen.
  • Advanced skills such as pressure testing filters and SME on use of engineering piping guidelines.
  • May require welding certifications.
  • Reviewing and redlining draft MPRS, SOPs, training.
  • Document work performed in the CMMS, including history notes, time charges and parts procurement. Advanced SAP skills, include planning, scheduling and job plan searches.
  • May require welding repairs on pressure vessels.
  • Maintain and repair existing piping and equipment systems, such as process (product and solvent) and utilities piping.
  • Support piping needs for process changeovers and glass-lined equipment repairs.
  • Troubleshoot problems on existing piping and systems and make repairs for longevity.
Improvement Work
  • Make appropriate suggestions for PM procedure revisions.
  • Provide job knowledge and skills for process improvements and special projects.
  • Become multi-skilled by acquiring basic carpenter/millwright and machinist skills.
  • Work with a variety of Individuals, such as engineers, other craftspeople, production personnel and other resources on process upgrades and equipment changes.
Compliance
  • Maintain 100% current on Individual Training Plan.
  • Accurately document and update CMMS daily.
  • Follow all GMP/CDI/MI, Safety, and Environmental Guidelines.
Safety
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives.
  • Identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in crew safety meetings.
  • Follow all site and departmental safety policies and procedures.
Quality
  • Each individual is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories. This includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Each individual should report any action that they believe could impact the SISPQ of any product immediately to supervision.
  • Timely reporting of all deviations to supervision.
  • Training on each activity is completed and current and that each employee understands their assigned duties.
  • Strict documentation practices are followed to ensure that all steps of the operation are appropriately documented.
  • Ensure to maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness and sanitation through good housekeeping practices and applying good personal health practices.
  • Adherence to all written instructions.
  • Ensure the safety of the personnel and product by wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) according to the operation being executed.
  • Ensure the security and safety of the product through the reporting of any potential risk to supervision immediately.
Environmental, Safety, Health, & Security (ESHS)
  • Inform direct supervision of any ESHS hazards or concerns in the workplace.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to coworkers on both safe and unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Report all injuries to Employee Health Services or Security and supervision within the same shift of the incident occurring.
  • Assume personal accountability for individual behaviors related to ESHS activities.
  • Actively participate in the ESHS management system as directed by supervision.
  • Complete all required ESHS training and remain current with applicable learning plans at all times.
  • Have the appropriate knowledge and tools prior to performing a task.
  • Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • May be required to enter confined space
  • May be required to work outside in an uncontrolled environment
  • May be required to work in a high noise/high temperature environment
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs and ladders
  • Ability to operate powered equipment
  • May be required to operate motorized vehicles
Working Conditions
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required for contact with those working nights and weekends
  • Typical shifts are 8-hour days Monday-Friday or 12-hour shifts, days and nights.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be willing to become multi-skilled in both mechanical and pipefitting trades.
  • Must complete required ITP training
  • Must possess 3-5 years of relevant Industrial Pipefitting experience.
  • Ability to perform MIG, TIG, and Stick processes to maintain tank integrity to meet ASME codes.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must have the mindset of working safely.
  • Ability to maintain, and update as necessary, all applicable welding certifications.
  • Proficient in computer skills in SAP, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand Piping diagrams, including layout and fabrication.
  • Ability to use Oxygen/Acetylene equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of customers and other crafts.
  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude, with demonstrated ability to read and use manufacturer's service manuals.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good planning, organizing, and documentation skills.
  • Prior experience with the department is preferred.
