The Maintenance Assistant responds to our resident's service needs and is instrumental in helping Cushman and Wakefield deliver superior customer service to our residents.
We are seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Facility Maintenance and Audio-Visual Technician to join our team. This position is in-person and full time, located in downtown Evanston.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Facility Maintenance and Audio-Visual Technician to join our team. This position is in-person and full time, located in downtown Evanston.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong interpersonal relationship and teamwork skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical clients and staff.
- High School diploma and five years of experience required. An Associate’s degree in audio visual or related field is preferred.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including bending, squatting, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. On occasion, may be required to lift items weighing 50 to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to read and follow written manuals and work order systems.
- Audio visual, computer, and mobile device technical expertise, and ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- At least 2 to 3 years of minor handy man experience, including working with tools for minor building repairs.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate on a team.
- Meeting clients' standards by handling equipment malfunctions and executing a flawless event.
- Perform room tours to ensure all AV equipment/software is working properly, and repair/adjustment equipment/software as necessary.
- Running tests on videos, audio, and signals and troubleshooting any problems that arise.
- Respond to help requests to troubleshoot potential AV issues. Meet with clients, identify issues and provide solutions.
- Transporting, setting up, and installing media equipment and audiovisual support tools, including speakers, monitors, cameras, and equipment racks.
- Disassembling equipment, wiring, and support tools in a safe manner.
- Plan and fulfill audio visual requests, including conference room set-ups, equipment set-ups, event microphone/speaker setups and web conference setup and monitoring.
- Performing inventory management on equipment, wiring, and accessories.
- Performs as-needed cleaning of the facility and premises including any spills on a daily basis beyond the regular custodial services performed by the cleaning staff including trash/debris removal, emptying receptacles, mopping and drying, etc.
- Conducts the physical movement of furniture, equipment, boxes and materials as needed for meeting and conference room set-ups, facility events, relocation of occupant moves, freight shipping and delivery, supplies, stocking, and the like.
- Expected to promptly respond and assign appropriate resources to handle non-technical requests (e.g., hanging pictures, desk repairs, stock supplies, moving furniture, etc.). May be required to respond to restroom service calls.
- In coordination with property management and the other skilled trades at the facility, is responsible for prioritizing work orders, handling urgent requests, responding to client calls for maintenance and facility/equipment repairs, and ensuring the completion of any and all assigned work orders.
