Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Inventory Control Supervisor, responsible for processing all incoming and outgoing mail for three geographically separated facilities serviced by two different U.S. Post Offices. Receives, sorts, and delivers all organizational interoffice mail and packages. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs courier duties to/from local vendors as required.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing certified mail items with urgency and precision.
  • Maintains detailed logs and records to account for incoming and outgoing certified mail.
  • Delivers and picks-up interoffice and outgoing mail between buildings and locations.
  • Keeps the Enterprise Mail Center organized, clean, safe, orderly and functioning properly.
  • Sorts, opens and distributes mail according to destination department.
  • Operates and cleans Enterprise mail vehicle.
  • Researches undeliverable mail items to determine addressee.
  • Operates postage metering system and tracks expenses.
  • Monitors work order tracking system for organizational transfers of small packages.
  • Operates computers and generates electronic receipts for certified mail.
  • Stocks office supplies.
  • Ensures Fed-Ex and UPS packages are dropped off before pickup time.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Runs postage metering system and prepares outgoing mail for pick-up or delivery to Post Office.
  • Picks up and delivers mail to Post Office.
  • Maintains prescribed delivery routes and schedules.

Job Requirements:



Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of verifiable experience in mail handling, operating a commercial postage metering system, and processing of certified mail with electronic receipt function using a computer and current mail systems technology. Valid driver’s license and have and maintain a clean driving record. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license. Must be insurable (for driving) by the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise and to include the following:
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with the public, co-workers and maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to handle bulky and heavy items.
  • Knowledge of postage rates.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make mathematical computations.
  • Skill in operating postage machines.
  • Knowledge of the functions, structure, and policies and procedures of Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise.
  • Ability to represent the Facilities department in a professional manner, building respect and confidence in the Enterprise mail service.
  • Knowledge of transportation methods, agencies, and costs.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything, and continually seek improvement in results.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain written records and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl and be able to reach out and pick-up and hold small objects. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed both indoors and outdoors in extreme heat and cold. Some work is performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Work schedule is a Monday-Friday work week. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
