Job Description

Duties

As a/an Machinist, you will:

  • Plan for, set up, and operate both computer controlled and conventional machines.
  • Independently interpret and translate work orders, drawings, and specifications that may lack complete dimensions, tolerances, types of fit, finish, etc.
  • Develop new procedures or methods to resolve complex machining problems or to accomplish operations more efficiently and economically.
  • Disassemble, install, overhaul, repair, and manufacture parts and items for coining presses, blanking presses, upset mills, annealing furnaces, metal shears, and other production and support equipment that often requires the extension of conventional machine tools or the use of specialized machine tools.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, as well as stoop, bend, and reach. Frequently lifts items weighing 10 pounds, and occasionally lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds. Hoists, hand trucks, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. The work requires good eyesight and good hand-eye coordination.

  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be able to work all shifts on a rotational basis.
