Machine Learning Engineer (Language Models Specialist)

We at Automa are seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer (specialising in Language Models) to integrate language and reasoning capabilities into our AI-powered robots.

Automa is an AI lab with the goal of creating Artificial General Intelligence. Most AI labs are focusing exclusively on software applications, but we at Automa know that AGI will not be achieved without a grounding in the physical world. This means giving AI a body to perceive and interact with our environment. We are taking the latest advancements in Machine Learning, and integrating them into a physically-embodied agent.

Responsibilities

• Research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in natural language processing, language models, transformer architectures, and machine learning in general.
• Train and fine-tune our language models.
• Collaborate with our Robotics Software Engineers to integrate language capabilities into our robots.
• Perform model evaluation and continuous improvement to optimise performance and address potential biases or shortcomings.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on developing and deploying language models.
• Background or education in machine learning, computer science, or mathematics.
• Software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of deep learning and transformer architectures.
• Solid understanding of natural language processing fundamentals including tokenization, embeddings, and text generation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Multimodal model experience (vision-language ideally).
• Publications in relevant conferences or journals in the fields of machine learning or natural language processing.

Compensation

Founding engineer equity shares. Competitive salary offered upon transitioning to full-time.
