Job Description

REPORTS TO: School Leader

SUPERVISES: Maycoordinateand direct the activities ofCo-Teachers.

PURPOSE: Toprovide quality instruction to studentsin accordance withtheMontessoriphilosophy andthe North Carolina Standard Course of Study.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effective planning and assessment of the school's current curriculum.

Guiding students to a level ofunderstanding of the curriculum effectively anddifferentiatinginstruction, materials, or assessments, whenappropriate.

Effective management of the classroom environment.

Quality instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, usingappropriateinstructionalstrategies.

Using innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use oftechnology, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.

Promotinghigh standards and expectations for student achievement.

Promotingequity and appreciation of diversity toensureequitableopportunities for student learning, including implementing specific strategies forstudents served by the Special Populations department.

Maintaining data and documentation, asappropriate.

Participating in school-wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher.

Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A valid NC Professional Educators'licensefrom the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in theappropriatecontent area/grade level.

(Birth-Kindergarten and/or Elementary K-6)

Experience working withchildren ages3-7.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE

AMS/AMI Montessori Certification

Experience working in a Montessori setting (preferred)
