Loop Driver Jobs

Position Summary
The Loop Driver is responsible for driving a company vehicle less than three tons to deliver merchandise to stores within the assigned loop.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Promptly report any vehicle maintenance problems
• Operate vehicle in a safe manner and obey all traffic laws
• Load and unload vehicle unassisted by hand, hand truck or dolly
• Ensure all equipment and materials are maintained including equipment and materials assigned to the vehicle
• Other duties as assigned
• Follow all company safety guidelines
• Ensure the piece count is correct for each order and matches the bill of lading
• Maintain all log books and company records
• May assist with customer service activities within the store as needed
• Build long-term relationships with customers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and identify part numbers that are numeric or alpha-numeric is required
• Must demonstrate consistency, accuracy and follow-through
• Ability to exercise judgement and to work independently
• Must maintain a driving record which meets state and company standards
• Valid driver's license is required
• Comfortable utilizing up sell techniques
• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Ability to handle difficult customer service situations
• 1 year of experience in delivery driving is preferred

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Must be able to climb up/down ladders to retrieve and stock merchandise
• Extensive standing, walking, pushing and reaching
• Need full range of motion for climbing, balancing, reaching, bending and stooping
• Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, or by using telecommunications equipment
• Repetitive movement of hands, arms, legs
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions, chemicals, odors, dirt and dust
• May work outside and be exposed to weather
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and read small print
• Safely operate a motor vehicle
• Must be able to enter and locate information on a computer
